PLAN DESIGN DELIVER

Our Vision

To deliver a modernised irrigation system that will help secure the economic, social and environmental future of northern Victoria.

Welcome to the Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project website.

NVIRP is a new entity with a most important role to successfully deliver Australia’s largest
ever irrigation renewal project. From the investment of over $2 billion for Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the
modernisation of the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District (GMID) NVIRP will recover approximately 425
gigalitres of water (long-term average) which is currently lost to the system. This project will establish
the platform for northern Victoria’s future and its ongoing economic viability. The water savings will be
distributed with 80 per cent staying in the northern Victoria region, shared by irrigators and the
environment and 20 per cent will go to Melbourne via the Sugarloaf Pipeline.

The information on this website will be updated regularly, so thank you for your interest
in the project and please return again soon.
