NVIRP’s submission to the MDBA draft plan – April 2012
Support for the NVIRP project has grown over time to the point where most farmers and farming organisations strongly support water-savings projects (both systems and farm savings) in preference to the removal of water from irrigation districts through various forms of buy-back, including the regular Commonwealth water tenders.
NVIRP’s submission has been split into the following three sections:
Section 1: A description of NVIRP and its role in delivering water savings.
Section 2: Mechanisms for better alignment between Australian Government and NVIRP to achieve water for the environment and positive social and environmental outcomes.
Section 3: Comment on equity issues and the practicality of managing environmental water.
We trust that our submission will assist the MDBA prepare a plan which has the support of the community.
