The Planning Unit is responsible for:
- achieving net environmental gain for the project including obtaining all necessary environmental, cultural heritage and municipal approvals
- estimating, calculating, verifying and auditing all water savings generated by the project in accordance with the Statewide Water Savings Technical Manual
- determining the extent of the modernised, automated network of backbone channels including undertaking system enhancement reviews resulting in further refinement of the backbone.
Achieving these objectives involves extensive consultation and negotiation with a number of State and Federal government agencies, catchment management authorities, Goulburn-Murray Water, local government, Aboriginal communities and community and environmental groups.
